  • Examples:

    • Health Services major (UK): Will be creating TikTok and Instagram reels to document daily life abroad and will be sharing these on a web page to show how the Gilman experience is accessible to underrepresented students. 
    • Mass communications major (England): Will be co-authoring articles and producing YouTube vlogs in collaboration with the campus newspaper to increase awareness of study abroad and the Gilman Scholarship. 
    • Biology/Psychology major (UK): Will be documenting their journey through a blog and social media posts, presenting their experience through workshops, and will be launching a photography exhibit to engage pre-med students and promote the Gilman Scholarship. 
    • Drama/Music major (South Korea): Will be documenting their cultural and academic experiences in a vlog series and will be sharing it in collaboration with a campus cultural club and the university’s IDEA Center. 
  • Examples:

    • English major (Ireland): Will be visiting their former high school to give a presentation to students in a pre-college program, encouraging them to pursue global opportunities and apply for the Gilman Scholarship. 
    • Biology major (London): Will be creating an informational brochure and presenting their study abroad experience to a kindergarten class to foster early awareness and inspiration. 
  • Examples:

    • IT major (Scotland): Will be developing an online manual, flyers, and blog posts for students—especially first-generation students—who are unable to attend in-person info sessions; materials will include information on the Gilman Scholarship. 
    • Biology major (London): Will be designing a brochure that outlines study abroad and scholarship resources such as the Gilman, aimed at science students. 
    • Communications/ROTC student (Europe): Will be producing a brochure and short film targeting ROTC and veteran students, highlighting the benefits of study abroad and the support provided by the Gilman Scholarship. 
    • Medical sciences major (Austria): Will be participating in a testimonial video and a study abroad fair and will be distributing printed materials to promote the Gilman Scholarship to pre-health students. 
  • These projects focus on engaging college peers through in-class presentations, student orgs, or campus-wide events. 

    Examples:

    • Psychology major (Japan): Will be giving presentations in Japanese I classes at a Texas State University to inspire language learners to study abroad, especially with the support of the Gilman Scholarship. 
    • Marketing major (Netherlands & Germany): Will be visiting marketing classes to discuss study abroad and financial resources like the Gilman in collaboration with Education Abroad and faculty. 
    • Biology major (Costa Rica): Will be creating and delivering a presentation to the Wildlife Biology Society with faculty support to explain study abroad and Gilman application process. 
    • Anthropology major (Austria): Will be collaborating with the College of Liberal Arts to deliver presentations that raise awareness about the Gilman Scholarship among financially needy students. 
    • Drama major (UK, veterans focus): Will be partnering with the Theater Department to promote the Gilman Scholarship among performing arts students and student veterans through campus and classroom outreach. 
    • Medical sciences major (Austria): Will be presenting to the Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Society, participating in study abroad fairs, and volunteering with the campus health center to promote Gilman awareness. 
    • Biology & GIS dual major (Ireland): Will be creating a GIS map of their study abroad experience and collaborating with a faculty member to present the project and Gilman resources via the IDEA Center. 
    • Communications/ROTC student (Europe): Will be collaborating with ROTC, Education Abroad, and the Veterans Alliance to produce a brochure and short film showcasing study abroad opportunities and addressing ROTC concerns, with a focus on the Gilman Scholarship.
